Combine a script, a song, and a dance and six weeks later your kindergartener or first grader is a triple threat: acting, singing and dancing! A wonderful introduction to musical theatre for our youngest performers. Class is new each term!
Biography:Sarah is a singer, dancer and actress who is a member of the Actor's Equity Association with a BA in Music-Vocal Performance from ORU in Tulsa, Oklahoma "where the wind comes sweeping down the plain!" She is a part time theatre faculty member at Lansing Community College and is very pleased to come on board as a theatre and musical theatre instructor for the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre School of Theatre Arts. She has been performing since the age of three and started her professional career at the age of five. She has performed in an array of musical theatre, dance, dramatic and solo performances throughout Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York City and many other states throughout the country. She has performed in dinner theatre, A Christmas Carol (professional tour with Bill Fegan Attractions), at the age of eight was a promotional model for L'Oreal, Teen People Magazine, Vogue and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, to name a few. She has taught music and art to K-8 for numerous years. Her most recent professional experience includes singing in Romeo & Juliet with Opera Grand Rapids. She has a passion for teaching children of all ages and looks forward to teaching while bringing out their unique inherent performance abilities and sharing her fine art experience in the area of theatre performance. The children are truly the stars of tomorrow!
This is Carly's 6th year teaching at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre School of Theater Arts. Carly was most recently seen as Waitress #1 in the musical Rock of Ages at Circle Theatre but her previous credits include Dogfight and Chess the Musical at Actor's Theatre, Catch Me If you Can (Cheryl Ann), Cabaret and Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns (Cindy Lou) at Circle Theater and 9 to 5 the Musical, Hairspray (Penny Pingleton) and Hello Dolly at Civic Theater. Carly attended Alma College on a vocal scholarship where she privately studied Vocal Performance and toured through the United States and Europe with the Alma College Choir.
