Description

WESTERN FIRE WEATHER

Dangerous and destructive wildland fire outbreaks tend to occur during optimum combinations of high fire danger, critical weather pattern, and sufficient ignition sources. This unit will describe the large scale weather and fire danger patterns historically associated with outbreaks of large, costly wildfires in the western US, Canada and Alaska.

Learn about our different weather patterns in 4 separate classes. Each class is focused on a specific weather pattern. Class is instructed by Portland Meteorologist and CCC Faculty member in the Fire Science Dept, John Saltenberger.
