Description

WEST COAST HEAT WAVES AND COLD EXTREMES

Unusual hot spells and cold spells on the west coast of North America are associated with easily identifiable and predictable large sale pressure patterns and wind flow patterns, both near the surface of the earth and at the level of the jet stream in the upper atmosphere. This unit will describe how such hot and cold patterns originate and evolve.

Learn about our different weather patterns in 4 separate classes. Each class is focused on a specific weather pattern. Class is instructed by Portland Meteorologist and CCC Faculty member in the Fire Science Dept, John Saltenberger.
