Description

FRONTAL SYSTEMS

Weather fronts are boundaries between large scale air masses of contrasting temperature and moisture characteristics. Fronts are known for being areas of active weather because boundaries between contrasting airmasses are associated with varying winds, vertical motion, sharp temperature changes and heavy precipitation. Fronts can remain stationary or they can move across the landscape. this unit will identify and describe various types of fronts and what they mean for weather changes.

Learn about our different weather patterns in 4 separate classes. Each class is focused on a specific weather pattern. Class is instructed by Portland Meteorologist and CCC Faculty member in the Fire Science Dept, John Saltenberger.
