Description:
Celebrate Day of the Dead at our second annual Trunk or Treat on October 16 at Camp Greene Wood! Day of the Dead is a two-day dedication to family, friends, and loved ones that have passed. Families create ofrendas (offerings) to honor those that have passed. Altars are decorated with bright yellow or orange marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and favorite foods and drinks of those honored. This is a celebration of death and life. At this program, there will be several trunks for trick-or-treating, calavera decorating, marigold flower-making activities, and much more for Day of the Dead, as well as a Halloween craft.
Notes:
Please note this is not a drop-off event; all Girl Scouts must attend with their troop/troop leader or family members. Everyone attending (parents, siblings, etc.) must be registered; children are $10 and adults are free. Girls will receive a bag, patch, and many fun items from the trunks. Make sure to dress for the weather and wear your walking shoes as you’ll be walking throughout camp to the various buildings and outdoor spaces. Bring two tall socks that you’re willing to turn into a craft! We will be following the council’s COVID guidelines.
