Description: March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! Join our friends at SCARCE as we learn all about how individuals with visual impairments adapt to their environments. Girl Scouts will practice using a braille machine and decoding braille messages, experience a special visual simulation, and become familiar with tools and techniques used for navigational purposes and identifying objects. This unique program will be presented by educators specializing in the fields of Children with Visual Impairments and Orientation and Mobility. Scouts will also engage in a crayon sorting activity and become educated about SCARCE's Super Crayon Project, which includes recycling used crayons to conserve natural resources and provide helpful materials for individuals with special needs.
