Description

This movement and dance class will teach the fundamentals of hip-hop, jazz (& street jazz) as well as tap. The main focus of the class will be learning different forms of hip-hop dancing, and.students will do combos, freestyle and move their bodies while learning many different dance moves. Dance instructor Erin McHenry explains,"This class will be focused on exploring the many different ways to move your body rather than sticking to teaching specific techniques. I want kids to learn how to move and release energy in a positive way. We will be dancing to instructional music (songs that tell you what to do) and I will teach my own combinations. Having fun is a huge part of this class!"

This is a one-time class being featured as a preview to Hip Hop Dance for Grades K-3, an 8 week program that will run March 25-May 13 on Mondays from 3:30-4:30p. Scholarships are available, thanks to a grant from the Atwood Foundation to bring dance to Girdwood kids!
