Description
Did you know that ice cream is science? Join an instructor from the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska to learn about matter and the three terms learned to describe its fundamental states: liquids, solids, and gases. They will learn various properties of matter and use the terms to describe their homemade ice cream. Students will work in teams to make ice cream from a set of instructions and will be able to personalize their color, taste and base ingredient of their ice cream. They will test their creation and communicate their findings. The Ice Cream Matters workshop includes three student activities.
NOTE that students are required to behave respectfully to our guest instructors, and will be asked to leave if they cannot behave appropriately. Students will be making observations and/or measurements, and following precisely a multi-step procedure when carrying out experiments, taking measurements and performing technical tasks. Please talk to your child about these expectations and make sure this class is a good fit before registering them. WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Please call 742-5317 if you can help make ice-cream!
This is a free enrichment event sponsored by Four Valleys Community School because we love hands-on learning and watching our youth grow into life-long learners. We couldn't do it without donations from Pick.Click.Give, support from Girdwood Board of Supervisors, funds from donors like the Girdwood Forest Fair Committee and individual donors. Thank you for your support.
