Description: Have you ever wanted to try camping but weren't sure where to start or what to do? Join the Forest Preserve and receive a beginner crash course in everything that goes into the activity. Participants will get hands-on experience setting up tents, building a fire, cooking over an open fire, and handling unexpected situations that arise. No personal gear is required for the event, but participants can bring lawn chairs and any gear they are looking for help understanding. Everyone will get an opportunity to roast their own marshmallows and make their own s'mores.

The Forest Preserve also offers camping gear packages with the supplies needed for your overnight stay, including the tent!

Campsites at McKinley Woods are accessed by walking a short distance from the parking lot on a smooth sidewalk.
