Parks Memorial Program

Farmers Branch residents who wish to place a memorial in a city park must submit a request to the Parks and Recreation Director or his/her designee. Residents may donate a new tree, a new bench, or create a dedication for an existing tree or bench in any park. Parks and Recreation staff will assist with the selection, placement, and installation of the item. Residents may request a specific location, with staff having final approval.

If a new bench or tree is selected, staff will choose the type, color, and style (matching existing elements) and obtain a quote that includes shipping. Once payment is received from the resident for the amenity, it will be ordered and installed. Residents will only be responsible for paying for the dedication items; installation of the items will be performed by staff.

The dedication plaques purchased by residents for the dedicated items will be cast bronze plaques, not to exceed 13” x 11” in size. A proof of the dedication plaque will need to be approved by staff before the production, purchase, and installation of the plaque can proceed. All wording and graphic images on the dedication plaques must be presented in a manner that is tasteful and respectful, suitable for public viewing.
