Cesar Chavez Day Mine Tours

Join staff for an exploration of the underground here at Black Diamond Mines. In the late 19th century, people from around the world arrived here in search of a new life and new opportunities. Deep beneath the surface was a rock that would power the young state of California. Discover the toils, triumphs, and tragedies embedded in these hills as we explore a replica coal mine.

Must be 7+ years old to attend the mine tour. Hard hats will be provided. Please be prepared for cool temperatures underground.

4 mine tours will be offered throughout the day:

10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm.

No advanced registration.

Tours can ONLY be booked in person in the Greathouse Visitor Center, starting at 10:00am when the center opens. Tours will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Tour maximum is 15 people per tour. No waitlists.

Park in the upper parking lot, which is 1 mile past the kiosk. Meet at the Greathouse Visitor Center

The fee for the tour is $3.00 per person.
