Description

ANTHONY CHABOT (CAMPGROUND AMPITHEATER): As dusk turns to twilight, we will watch and listen for bats. Using special acoustic technology, we will attempt to identify a variety of local species. Meet at the amphitheater.

Dress in layers. Bring a blanket to sit on and flashlight for the walk back to the parking lot.

No registration; drop-in.

TO REACH CHABOT CAMPGROUND

Due to recent storm damage, the Park is not accessible via Redwood Road from I-580 westbound in Castro Valley. You must access via Redwood Road from Skyline Blvd.

From eastbound I-580 in Oakland, take the 35th Ave. exit. Turn left; 35th Avenue becomes Redwood Road. At the intersection of Redwood Road and Skyline Blvd., go straight (east) on Redwood Road for 6.37 miles to Anthony Chabot Regional Park’s Marciel Gate. The campground entrance is 2.2 miles inside the Marciel Gate entrance.

From Highway 13 in Oakland, take the Redwood Road exit and go up the hill. Follow instructions from Skyline Blvd. above.
