Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial help offered to a person developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis. Aiders provide initial support and connect the person in crisis to professional care or remain with the person until the crisis resolves. Youth-MHFA is specifically designed to teach parents, caregivers, teachers, school staff, coaches, and other caring citizens how to help adolescents (age 12-18) via a 5-step process. As a participant, you will become more in tune with others' well-being and your own! Participants who complete the online pre-work (2 hours) and post-work (1 hour), in addition to the in-person training, will be certified for 3 years.
Logistics:
2 hours of online pre-work (self-assessment, videos, and quiz) on your own before the training.
4.5 hours of face-to-face, instructor-led training
30-60 minutes of evaluation and exam on your own after the training
Schedule
9 am to 2:30 pm with a lunch break
We highly recommend bringing your lunch as the lunch break will only be 30 minutes
