Description

The 2017 Inaugural Chicago Clarinet Symposium is a jam-packed, two-day celebration of the clarinet on Friday May 12 and Saturday, May 13 at Northeastern Illinois University's Main Campus. Registration will be limited so that each participant has a chance to meet and mingle with our guest artists, and one another. (Please note the Coupon Code options below for registering!) There are no events scheduled simultaneously so you do not have to miss anything. The symposium includes seven master classes with world-renowned (and really fun) artists such as Michael Lowenstern, Eric Mandat, John Bruce Yeh, Charlene Zimmerman, David Bell, Kathy Pirtle, and Jorge Montilla. Participants will also hear solo performances, compose their own cadenzas and have an opportunity to participate in a clarinet ensemble reading session. The Gala concert on Friday, May 12th features Michael Lowenstern, John Yeh, Chloe Feoranzo and Jorge Montilla in performances with the Chicago Clarinet Ensemble.

Northeastern Illinois University is located on the northwest side of Chicago and provides an idea setting for a collegial gathering of clarinetists of all abilities and interests. Accommodation are available at a reduced cost at The Nest, our brand new university housing development with private bedrooms, common living space, and a kitchen; or at the Holiday Inn located in Skokie (shuttle will be provided). See descriptions and links for housing in the notes field below.
