Description:
Wednesdays 6p.m.- 8p.m. January 8 thru February 12
This non-credit beginning conversation class will be taught by Dr. Susan Nusbaum, a former teacher and administrator in CPS. The class is designed for anyone who would like to learn basic conversational Spanish. Each class will be six weeks in length and is aimed at beginning levels. The class format is informal and non-graded with emphasis on using and repeating the spoken word.
Susan has two goals for the classroom, to work hard and to have fun. The focus of the lessons will be immersion in the language, which means that students will have activities other than just speaking in the classroom. Students will be exposed to movies and television in Spanish. She plans to venture out with the class into the Spanish-speaking community, to museums and restaurants, to enhance the program. There will be Spanish-speaking guests in the class, and students will have opportunities for one-on-one conversations.
At the beginning of the class, students will be asked what they want to learn, and the class will be adapted to meet those needs.
