Description

This non-credit program is offered through NEIU's Office of Community and Professional Education, in partnership with MK Education. This training provides 180 hours of instruction in retail and hospital pharmacy practices and 120 hours in hands-on externship experience. This program prepares candidates for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).The program runs from February 6, 2017 through July 12, 2017. The components of the program include class meetings February 6 through May 17 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. at NEIU's El Centro campus at 3390 N. Avondale Ave. in Chicago. In addition, this program has an externship, (temporary training program in a workplace), that takes place May 18, 2017 through June 30, 2017. The exact dates and times of the externship are determined by the student and the externship site. The Final Review for this program takes place on July 5, 2017. The Final Exam takes place on July 10, 2017 and Graduation takes place on July 12, 2017. (These are also Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.)

The Pharmacy Technician class prepares students to take PTCE or ExCPT exams, which are national exams (these are separate of the class). The PTCE costs approx: $130.00 and the ExCPT approx: $105.00. Graduates of the course will also need to apply for a license to work in a pharmacy which costs approx: $100.00
