Description
Get WILD before summer! Bring your budding naturalist to Wonder, Investigate, Learn and Discover (WILD) in your city parks. You and your children will assume the roles of scientists, engineers, detectives and artists! This all outdoor program explores a different park each week and why it is unique. Program includes a lot of movement, nature connection, and hands-on activities. A Corvallis Environmental Center naturalist will engage children in exploration of place, active play, development of social and emotional skills, science thinking and inspiration of wonder.
This program takes place at a different Corvallis city park each week and happens rain or shine.
Week 1: Riverbend Park
WILD about bubbles, ages 3-6: Wonder about the magic of floating bubbles. Investigate how we can build our own bubble wands and formulate our own mixture. Learn how much fun the science of bubbles can be. Discover more fun by bringing your new bubble wand home to keep the fun going!

Week 2: Willamette Park-WILD about animal tracks and traces (Meet at the Rotary Shelter)
Wonder what animals are around even if we can't see them. Investigate animal behaviors by observing tracks. Learn how different features of tracks allow us to hypothesize what animal the track belongs to. Discover how to make your own animal track to take home using plaster and silicone molds.

Week 3: Chintimini Park-WILD about flowers

Week 4: Avery Park-WILD about light
Wonder how nature, science and art can be combined to create something beautiful! Investigate how different natural materials like petals, leaves, or pollen create different colors and can be used in art. Learn how to craft a nature suncatcher and how light moves through one. Discover how suncatchers utilize light and create shadows around objects collected in them.
