Description

Description: Slow Motion Contact Improvisation Dance
with some live cello music and guided imaginative imagery

Explore improvised interactive dance, in which points of physical contact provide the starting point for creating joint movement improvisation in this introductory workshop. Playfully slow down and enjoy creating meditative dance improvisation as a group collaboration, while being present in the moment. Our core emphasis of this interactive movement class is finding balance between self-awareness, breathing, slowing down, and following the shared point of physical contact.

Principals:

  • breathing, centering
  • imitation
  • gravity
  • following a shared point of physical contact
  • momentum
  • counterbalance
  • responsiveness to partner/surroundings
  • rolling, falling, lifting
No previous dance experience necessary. Beginners are encouraged and welcome. All skill levels will be integrated.
