Contract D - Friday

On the first day of lessons

• Skaters should arrive at least 15 minutes early so they have time to warm up, stretch and get skates on prior to the start of class.

• Skaters may get ready in the party rooms or the seating area near the ice.

• During the first class session, your child will be evaluated to make sure he/she has been registered for the appropriate level. Each level with more than 12 skaters will be divided into different classes. We generally divide classes in one of two ways, by age and/or by those skaters who are new to the level and those who have participated in the level previously. Spin classes may be slightly larger.

What to wear

• Helmets are strongly recommended for beginners. Any sport approved helmet is a good bet. Skaters with more experience can consider a protective sports headband (Crasche brand or other for ice sports)

• Clothing should be suitable for athletic activities and should not pose a trip hazard. Skirts should not be longer than knee length.

• Dress warmly, light, thin layers are a good choice.

• Gloves or mittens are a must.

• Socks should cover an area above the top of the skate.

• Support your child through challenges and successes

• Be realistic about your child’s ability

• Allow the coach to do the coaching

• Use honest and open communication with your child’s coach

• Don’t compare your child to another skater.

• Be positive about your child’s skating

Reminders

• Only registered skaters are allowed on the ice.

• No one is allowed in the players boxes during lessons.

• Please watch from the comfort of the bleachers or lobby.

• If your skater does not feel well and/or has a fever please do not attend class.

• Lessons should not be interrupted with questions. Leave a message for the instructor to contact you after the classes have ended or contact the Skating Director.

Other Equipment

• Make sure that your child’s skates fit properly. Your child’s coach or the Skating Director can help with this if you have questions.

• Make sure your skates are sharp.

• Always wear your skate guards when not on the ice

• Guards should be removed when storing skates to prevent the blades from rusting.
