Aqua Ballet - LCMP - 9:30 AM -Mon/Wed
ProgramsFY2020 - Fall - Aquatics Session I|#34829
Description
Aqua Ballet is a structured program which combines the fundamental techniques of ballet and the performance of aerobic exercise in fairly shallow water. It is for adults with different levels of physical ability who can start slow and advance at their own pace.
Since our bodies tend to change as we age, exercising under water is great for older bodies as it is gentle on the joints and muscles with less chance for injury.
Ballet in the water offers a fun way to tone and strengthen the body and mind. These classes help students to improve their posture and balance, stretch their muscles, and straighten their bones. Moreover, movements and patterns in ballet classes promote cognitive stimulation, helping seniors fight dementia due to the fact that it requires focus to memorize and execute many of the ballet combinations and steps in time with the music.
