Description

Taught by TMS’ Rock & Pop Academy (RPA) Department Head, Alfredo Guerrieri, this course is an a la carte online offering not only for students enrolled in RPA, but for anyone else that has an interest in learning more about 20th century popular music. This fun, interactive course will cover aspects of popular music from 20th century on, as students explore many differing styles and artists within the genre. Topics will include playing styles, instruments, songs/albums, and their roots and influences. The music theory aspect will include major and minor keys, diatonic harmony, chords, and modes, and more topics as they apply to popular music.

Additional Supplies Needed: students are encouraged to use headphones for the Zoom sessions. Use of an instrument during the session is optional.

All skill levels accepted (some basic experience with music theory will be helpful)
