Description:
Join TMS faculty cellist Ida Mercer as she leads a guided tour of Paul Rolland’s string pedagogy book, The Teaching of Action in String Playing. Participants will learn the importance of freedom, ease, and comfort while playing, as well as the use of good motion patterns to reduce excessive tension. This course is relevant at any point on the journey of playing a string instrument, leading to improved technique and enhanced resonant tone. Sessions will consist of video presentations of Rolland, demonstrations and application of his techniques, as well as small group discussion – all from the comfort and privacy of your own home! Open to adult string musicians at an advanced beginner level and above.
