Music Around the World
Classes2021 Fiscal Year - FY21 (Summer 2020)|#10768
Description
Though this pandemic has limited our ability to travel physically, we can still explore other parts of the world—without even leaving home. This virtual music course will introduce attendees to music from around the globe. We will learn about different musical instruments, genres, and cultures; learn to sing folk songs from different countries; and learn some basic drumming patterns from Africa and Latin America.
In addition to learning and exploration, groups will also be guided through ways to apply world music in their own lives for wellness, recreation, self-expression, and socializing. Activities may include: song and poetry writing and performance; making at-home instruments; drum circles; journaling; and other musical and creative activities.
