Our longstanding immersive jazz studies program is moving online for the fall 2020 semester! Study and play one of America’s most important original art forms from the comfort of your own home, in small and medium sized Zoom sessions on Saturday mornings. Students will experience a curriculum each day that includes 40-minute modules in jazz combo, jazz theory, rhythm section styles, piano class, horn section styles, and rhythmic studies. One of the goals of the semester is to perform at BOP STOP @ THE MUSIC SETTLEMENT, for a live-streamed concert that will be broadcast for friends and family to enjoy from anywhere. Special guests and masterclasses are also being planned for the fall J@MS online semester.
Students must have the following technological capabilities:
- A laptop, tablet, or desktop that has a reliable internet connection (ethernet connection recommended)
- Access to the video platform Zoom (J@MS faculty will specify if other platforms are necessary prior to the semester)
- Earbuds or headphones (Bluetooth recommended)
- USB microphone (if accessible)
