Description:
The FREE Parent Support Workshop Series is for parents of children ages 1-10 with behavioral challenges that are not responding to traditional parenting, including tantrums, defiance, screaming, and hitting that are arising out ADHD, anxiety, oppositional defiance, trauma, foster/adoption, grief and loss, adjustment to a new move or new family constellation, mild autism, or mild intellectual disability. It can even help with children who just have strong willed personalities.
Parents will learn the positive parenting principles of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) - a family treatment backed by 100's of studies and 30 years of research. Developed through UC Davis Children's Hospital, PCIT principles can radically transform disruptive behaviors and help parents regain a sense of calm and joy in everyday interactions with their children again.
Our workshops are fun, interactive, and taught in an atmosphere of mutual support of other parents who understand the ups and downs of parenting strong willed children. The timeout sequence will not be taught, rather the workshops will emphasize all the other behavior management strategies of PCIT. Foster and adoptive families can especially benefit, but all family constellations are welcome
