What You Will Learn

Disaster Preparedness
Understanding the types of hazards most likely to affect your home and community and how to prepare for them.

Fire Safety
Basic fire suppression strategies, safe use of fire extinguishers, and utility control.

Light Search and Rescue
Techniques for size-up and search operations, lifting, cribbing, and victim removal.

Team Organization
Effective response team structures, roles, and responsibilities.

Disaster Medical Operations
Basic treatment strategies for life-threatening conditions, principles of triage, and establishing medical treatment areas.

Disaster Psychology
Understanding the psychological impact of disasters on victims and rescuers, providing effective mental health support.

Terrorism and CERT
Identifying terrorist activities, understanding the role of CERTs in immediate response.
