Description

Join Artists Rashada Dawan and Margaret Morris to honor creativity and culture in the neighborhoods surrounding South Shore Cultural Center as part of the Culture Asset Mapping Project (CAMP). We invite you to participate in this event as a community storyteller.

This event will held at the South Merrill Community Garden at 7030 S. Merrill Ave. The group size is intentionally capped at 8 participants and we ask all participants to observe social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.

The Cultural Asset Mapping Project seeks to identify and map cultural assets in 9 neighborhoods surrounding Cultural Centers in parks across Chicago while documenting and uplifting oral histories and strong memories from artists, cultural organizers, and community members who are stakeholders in your neighborhoods.

You can explore more upcoming workshops in this series:
August 23, 3pm-5pm: Visioning Our Creative Future
September 6, 3pm-5pm: Building a Plan of Action
September 20, 3pm-5pm:Visionary Approaches for Arts at South Shore (online)

Cultural Asset Mapping Project (CAMP) is part of a larger initiative led by the Chicago Park District, the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and the League of Chicago Theatres to better understand the performing arts and related cultural forms on the South Side and West Side of Chicago.
