Description: If you have successfully completed a state-approved, 8-hour defensive driving course, you are eligible to take this 4-hour course to renew your 3-year insurance discount certificate. This Defensive Driving Course, developed by the National Safety Council, reviews basic crash prevention techniques and has a proven record of reducing traffic violations and incidents. It's taught by experienced, professional traffic safety instructors, including officers of the MN State Patrol. The class consists of lecture, films and discussions. There is no behind-the-wheel driving and there are no tests. People age 55 and older who complete this class are eligible to recieve a 10%, 3 year discount on auto insurance. This includes in-person classroom, online training, and live virtual Zoom classes. Contact your insurance agent to clarify your discount. After you complete the course, you will receive a certificate of completion to give to your insurance company. Please specify if you plan to take the class in person or via Zoom. Remote class attendees will be required to pick up classroom materials ahead of time from the Senior Center.
