Sensory Friendly Trick-or-Treat Walk
Activity2019: Fall|#290781-01
Description
If trick-or-treat is ever difficult for your kiddo, we have a great solution! Come to our Sensory Friendly Trick-or-Treat Walk where friendly volunteers will be dressed-up without scary or frightening masks or costumes along Central Park Trails. You can go as fast or as leisurely as you need while you enjoy this festive fall experience. Only trick or treaters need to be registered, but pre-registration is required.
Questions You Might Have:
Where should we go? The Sensory-Friendly Trick-or-Treat Walk is at the East Groves which is close to the East Building Parking lot. The East Building?s address is 1235 Central Park Drive East, Carmel, In 46032. The East Groves has very limited parking, but there is parking there. There will be staff and volunteers helping folks park at the East Grove. Once the parking is taken at the East Groves, then families will have to park at the East Building Parking lot. There will be volunteers and staff at the parking lot showing you where to go for the program. So if your kiddo is not a big walker, we recommend bringing a stroller or wagon.
How long is the trail? 1/4 of a mile.
How many times can families go around? Families can go around twice. Once a family has gone around twice, then the experience is over. Families can walk around on other beautiful trails. Please come whenever you like during the 1-3pm time period.
Will volunteers be wearing costumes? Volunteers can wear costumes, but we have ask for no scary costumes, masks, or full body suits that you might see at theme parks.
What treats will be passed out? We will be passing out nut free candy and little trinkets.
What should we bring? If you kiddo needs a stroller or wagon, please bring it. Please bring fidget toys that they might need? Please make sure you and your family are wearing sunscreen, bug spray, and bring a bottle of water. If your kiddo wants to wear a costume, please bring that! We ask no mask.
Can my friends still sign-up? Yes! But pre-registration is required. There are limited spots to make sure the event is sensory-friendly. So families are unable to just show-up at the event.
What about if it cancels due to weather?: In case of weather cancellation, please check the hotline this is the best method to know if programs are cancelled. If it does get cancelled, Michelle Yadon will be contacting families about make-up or a refund. Weather Hotline is 317-843-3870.
