Description

Multiplexing is the concept of transmitting multiple unique electronic signals over a pair of wires and allows these two wires to carry electronic data that can control a variety of electronic equipment. Thus, the number of wires needed to connect components is greatly reduced, which offers better reliability and improved vehicle up-time. This course will provide an overview of the DLB multiplexing system used on fire apparatus that utilizes an International/Navistar chassis in the apparatus buildup. The course will introduce students to current, new, and anticipated design changes and service requirements incorporated within the Diamond Logic Multiplexing systems. This course will provide the Emergency Vehicle Technicians with the knowledge and skills required to successfully manipulate the Diamond Logic Builder program for use on fire apparatus and related equipment. Topics covered in this course include the understanding of the Diamond Logic electric system inputs, outputs, data links, component locations including connecting and using DLB as a diagnostic tool.
