Description

This course offers students an overview of the design, construction, control and operation of breathing air compressors. The course describes the principles of operation of the compressor and how the design is adapted to several different configurations to meet numerous fire service needs including both stationary and mobile units. This is an entry-level course which teaches individuals routine maintenance on a breathing air compressor used to fill SCBA Cylinders. This course covers proper handling and operation, health and safety aspects and filter changing in addition to the filling of SCBA cylinders. This class is suitable for fire service personnel who are responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of breathing air compressors as well as for supervisors responsible for breathing air monitoring.
