Description: This course will provide a thorough introduction, application, and general assembly of the Allison World Automatic Transmission used in today's fire apparatus. Training provides an understanding of the World Transmission operation, construction, service requirements, installation guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures. Classroom topics include torque converter operation, power flows, clutches, retarder operation, vehicle interface, electronic and hydraulic control systems, and preventive maintenance. Hands-on exercises cover volt-ohm meter use, basic electrical circuits, connector repair, disassembly and reassembly of a transmission to the modular level, and Allison diagnostic tool basics.
