Description

NCAR Explorer Series: A New Era of Extreme Weather Impacts

The changing climate is evidenced by extreme weather events, such as heatwaves and flooding rains. Communities across the nation and the world are being impacted now, with further changes in extreme weather anticipated in the future.

In this presentation Dr. James Done will review how scientists are studying extreme weather changes, and how ongoing partnerships between science and industry are creating new, usable science and accelerating discovery.

Dr. James Done is deputy director of the Capacity Center for Climate and Weather Extremes at NCAR. He has testified before the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology on extreme weather and climate change. He received his Ph.D. in meteorology from the University of Reading, UK, and has been with NCAR for 16 years.
