NCAR Explorer Series- The Air We Breathe: On Front Range Air Quality
Join NCAR scientists Frank Flocke and Gabriele Pfister to review what is in the air we breathe, how far it travels, what is known about the origin of Front Range pollution, and the technology used by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to measure local air pollution.
Frank Flocke has been working in the Atmospheric Chemistry Observations and Modeling (ACOM) Laboratory at NCAR for over 20 years. He also contributed to research at the Institute for Tropospheric Chemistry in Germany and received his Ph.D. from the Bergische Universität Wuppertal.
Gabriele Pfister’s expertise is investigating the links between local, regional, and global air pollution using integration of measurements by satellites, aircraft, and ground. She has made important contributions to understanding regional and local air quality and was a principal investigator for an intense field experiment with NASA DISCOVER-AQ in summer 2014, with the objective to study air quality over Colorado. Gabriele received her Ph.D. at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz, Austria and has been at NCAR since 2002.
