A Rehabilitation Team Approach to Living Well with Parkinson's

Join Boulder Community Health Outpatient Rehabilitation Parkinson’s specialists for an interactive online discussion about the benefits of physical, occupational, voice and swallowing therapy in helping people with Parkinson’s Disease live active and fulfilling lives. Learn about the importance of a holistic team approach for people in all stages of Parkinson’s Disease.

Presenters:

Ann Brexa, OTR, has worked as an Occupational Therapist for 40 years in outpatient rehabilitation. She applies her vast neurologic knowledge and a functional approach when working with people with Parkinson’s and their care partners. She also performs Safe Driver Assessments, clinical assessment of the physical, visual-perceptual, cognitive, and concentration skills needed to function as a safe driver.

Michelle Becker, MS, CCC-SLP, has a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology and has worked for 30 years in various settings including acute care hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation treating adults with communication-cognitive, voice, and swallowing difficulties. She is certified in LSVT LOUD, an effective speech treatment for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological conditions.

Nancy Hillmer, OTR, has worked as an occupational therapist at BCH for 40 years. For 20 years she worked in homecare and organized a multidisciplinary team of therapists specializing in Parkinson’s. Her certifications include LSVT BIG, Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!), and Allied Team Training for Parkinsons. She currently facilitates numerous community exercise groups for Parkinson’s throughout Boulder County.

Mary Richardson, PT, MSPT, Certified Balance and Mobility Specialist, and PWR!Therapist™ (Parkinson Wellness Recovery), has worked as a physical therapist for 24 years. She specializes in balance and fall risk reduction, orthopedics, Parkinson’s Disease, and other neurologic conditions. She teaches PWR!Moves™, a dynamic exercise class specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s that puts into action the principles of PWR!Exercise4BrainChange®.
