ActivitySummer 2018 - Summer Camps 2018|#418.9xx6.
Description
Counselor in Training (CIT) Program
This is an excellent opportunity for campers entering grades 9-12 to earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours and develop great leadership and supervision skills assisting campers between the ages of 4 ½ to 13. CIT programs are available for Arts Journeys, Performing Arts Camp, Multi-Arts Institute, and After Care.
Experience working with children and an interest in visual art, drama, music, or dance is preferred. CITs must be 14 by the start of their camp session, be entering 9th grade and are required to attend their entire session.
CIT Schedules: 8:30am - 3:45pm for camps and 3:15 - 6:30pm for After Care.
All CIT?s must attend one Mandatory Training Session. Please select one of the training dates when you register: Tuesday, May 22nd from 5:30pm - 8:00pm, Wednesday, June 6th from 5:00pm - 7:30pm, or Thursday, June 14th from 3:00 - 5:30pm. You only need to attend one of these sessions.
Tuition: $25 for 1-week camps and After Care, $50 for 2-week camps (prices are the same for members and non-members)
Please note there is a daily limit to the number of SSL hours a CIT can earn. This limit is exceeded when registering to be a CIT for both a full camp day and After Care. Please consult your camper?s school for regulations.
BlackRock is a pre-approved Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) SSL organization.

CIT Reminders:
CIT Schedules: 8:30 am - 3:45 pm for camps and 3:15 - 6:30 pm for After Care. CITs should not arrive before 8:15 am as BlackRock's doors may not be open. CITs are required to have permission to self-dismiss and sign themselves out at the end of their program day. We encourage CITs to head home once their responsibilities have concluded for the day.
All BlackRock Center for the Arts camps are Nut-Free. This includes peanuts, tree nuts (cashews, almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc.), items cooked in peanut oil and nut spreads and butters like peanut butter and Nutella.
CITs need to bring a lunch and bottled water with them every day. Lunches will be refrigerated and campers will not have access to microwaves or ovens. Under no circumstances are CITs allowed to leave the building during camp.
CITs are required to attend a weekly staff meeting. Staff meetings take place after the camp day and will require your CIT to stay late. Most meetings are between 30-45 minutes, however they may run longer.
CITs should not bring personal items to camp. Cellphones are not permitted during the camp day and will be confiscated if seen. Parents will have to talk to the Director of Education before the phone is returned to the CIT.
CITs are responsible for their own SSL forms. Forms should be completed before being signed by the Education Director.
CIT handbooks with all camp and CIT rules and regulations will be distributed during the mandatory CIT training sessions. Camps forms such as the Authorization for Medication and Immunization Certificate, and more information about camp and the CIT program can be found at blackrockcenter.org/camps.
Thank you so much for choosing BlackRock as your CIT's summer destination!
