Beginning Acrylic Painting with instructor Andrea Tama
Wednesdays 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm, 8 sessions
MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN THIS CLASS FOR SPPRING TERM.
MATERIALS LIST

Acrylic Paint
Pthalo Blue (primary or green shade)
Ultramarine Blue
Quinacradone Magenta (Golden Brand) or Acra Magenta (Liquitex Brand)
Dioxazine Purple
Napthol Crimson or Pyrole Red (Golden Brand)
Cadmium Red Light
Cadmium Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cadmium Orange
Pthalo Green (blue shade)
Permanent Green Light
Titanium White (large tube or jar)
Carbon or Ivory Black
- New Chromium Oxide Green (suggested)
- New Alizarin Crimson Hue Permanent Some Suggested new colors:
-Sap Green Hue
-Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold
-Green Gold
- 16oz. jar of gloss gel medium and 1-16oz. jar of matte gel medium
(In a jar not in a bottle and should be a thicker creamy consistency.)

Basics, Hues, Mixtures or any other student grade paints or colors.

Brushes
- Flat (Bright) Hog Hair #12, #10, #8, #6 and #4
- Utrecht 239-B Mixed Synthetic with the red band on the handle
Miscellaneous Supplies
- A roll of Reynolds freezer paper from the market or paper palette pad 11 X 14
- Small rags (washcloths work best)
- Masking tape
- Storage containers or Tupperware ice cube trays to store paint
- Palette knives with bend in handle
- Small spray bottle
- Art gum eraser
- Sketchbook and pencil or pen
- *Digital Camera or iPhone will be needed
- Set of soft pastels (black, white and light gray) and pastel pencils for drafting
on canvas
-*A Mixed Media sketch pad 18 x 24
- 1 gallery wrapped (1 1/2" format) 18 x 24 heavy duty canvas

For SPRING semester you will need all the above supplies for the first day.
There will be a still life setup for you to draw simple shapes. You will be using
this sketch for a value study in pastel. Then, we will transfer onto the canvas
using a grid system. Then, we will make a color chart and use it to interpret color
from the values.
For those students that are continuing in beginning acrylic, we will be moving
onto landscape painting. You will need a variety of photos (original, not from
another source) with a 3-layer format. They must have a foreground, mid-ground
and background. You will need a stretched wrapped canvas, good quality 24 x 36
or 30 x 30
Some supplies will be provided by me, but not all.
