Drawing Foundations

Materials List
Most supplies may be purchased at Blick/Utrecht stores, and many at Michael's stores.
What to Bring the First Day:
- Strathmore 18 x 24” Drawing Paper Pad
- 18 X 24" Newsprint Paper pad (for practicing composition, etc.)
- Sketchbook, 8 ½ X 11" or 11 X 14"
- Drawing board large enough to hold drawing pads. (Can get one cut at Home Depot,
Lowe's, etc. or purchase at an art store.)
- Metal clips for drawing boards to hold paper on
- Graphite pencils (H, HB, B, 2B, 4B)
- Charcoal pencils (hard, medium, soft)
Bring the rest of the Term:

Erasers:
- Kneaded Eraser
- White Eraser
- Retractable Pencil-Style Eraser
General:
- Chamois cloth (Buy at AutoZone, its cheaper.)
- Portfolio case (cardboard or vinyl)
- 18" or 24" Ruler
- Drafting Tape
- Piece of Sandpaper
- Blending stumps
- Vine charcoal (soft)
- 1 stick black pastel
- Drawing board large enough to hold drawing pads. (Can get one cut at Home Depot,
Lowe's, etc. or purchase at art store.)
- Metal clips for drawing boards to hold paper on
Optional:
- 18 X 24" White Charcoal Paper pad (Has enough tooth to hold charcoal, but smooth
enough for nice contour work as well.)
- Single sheet of colored Canson paper or Arches paper (later in semester.)
- Drafting Cleaning Bags of Powdered Erasers (Great for subtle value work and
cleaning up drawing.)
