Stringer Fun! - Martha Downer

Students will learn/build upon basic techniques of glass fusing with a focus on stringers. We will explore amazing options that are available to glass artists using 90 COE stringers. Topics to be discussed and demonstrated will be glass compatibility, glass cutting and utilization, designing on glass, and preparing the kiln shelf using Papyros paper release. We will also be discussing firing schedules and specific characteristics of 2 mm and 1 mm stringers. We will do 8 projects using fused glass techniques involving stringers. This class doesn’t require previous experience. All abilities are welcome. Advanced students will do more complicated projects. Project will include wall art, frames, plates, and floral projects. *Basic supplies are provided. Participants may provide their own additional glass, providing that it is COE 90. Students will be asked to provide tubes of stringers for this class. (Please always wear close toed shoes.)
