Description:
Explore practical uses of composition and color that apply to any painting style. We will start with an overview of elements and principles of design, and then learn techniques for organizing and simplifying your paintings. We will also explore ways of modifying reference photos to create more pleasing compositions. Color discussions will include practical tips as well as theory.
Supply List: Pencil & Paper, Light, medium and dark gray markers (ex: Tombow or Prismacolor), and Reference Photos.

Students will receive an email with the link to the Virtual Class between 1-3 days prior to the start of the virtual class.

Biography:
Marie Matthews has a passion for painting and drawing the human figure. From urban street scenes to single figures, Marie captures moments in time, often from an unusual perspective. She applies solid draftsmanship and design fundamentals to expand her expressive possibilities. Marie's work has met with critical acclaim from jurors with a wide range of styles, from the contemporary and abstract to the traditional and realist. Since she began exhibiting her work in 2005, Marie has rapidly emerged as one of the premier watercolorists in Georgia. She is a Signature Member of the Southern Watercolor Society and the Georgia Watercolor Society, and she has won awards, including the Gold Medal from the Southern Watercolor Society, in the majority of juried shows she has entered.
