Description
Learn to paint in the style of the Masters by applying a chiaroscuro under-painting (just darks and lights), then applying color over it. Students will learn about the anatomy of the head and body, as well as the proper application of light and dark tones, while painting their choice of full figure or portraits from a costumed model. Materials are not included. Class cost includes model fee.

Required Class Supplies: A 16" x 20" canvas, prepared ahead of time by applying several layers of a mixture of burnt umber and titanium white, (the mixture should resemble a brown cardboard box) or you may use gesso and acrylic burnt umber to make your ground. You will also need to bring the following supplies: a tube of burnt umber and a tube of titanium white, paint thinner, linseed oil, a palette, rags, and an assortment of brushes.
