Introduction to Urban Sketching
Activity2018-19 FALL - 2018-19 FALL|#3208
Description
Urban Sketching is an art movement that has swept the world in the last 10 years. Urban Sketchers gather together to sketch what they see in their city or in places they visit, posting the results online for all to see, and now you can join them! This class will help beginning sketchers learn about materials and techniques as we visit locations around Cincinnati to draw what we find. We'll cover topics like color and value, perspective, composition, and sketching people.
The first class will be held at AAC and cover materials, the Urban Sketchers manifesto, and basic techniques, ending with a short sketching session nearby AAC. Subsequent classes will meet at predetermined locations around Cincinnati and will focus on some of the techniques mentioned above while sketching the subject.
Instructors:
Jeb Brack is a self-taught illustrator who has been sketching his whole life. He is one of the administrators of Urban Sketchers Cincinnati, which was started last year.
Robin Ewers Carnes is a professional illustrator, fine artist, and graphic designer, as well as an administrator of USK Cincinnati. She has given classes in watercolor and other media as well.
