Description

Value + Emphasis: Printing Images and Stories

Printmaking has been crucial in disseminating information for centuries and remains an essential medium in art, fashion, and storytelling! Students will learn how printmaking allows preservation of history, communication, and impactful design. Students will study and employ value and emphasis as they practice various techniques and many types of printmaking including screen printing, typographic printing, and monoprinting. Projects this week incorporate both creative writing and printmaking which students will craft after gaining inspiration from artists around the world like Barbara Jones-Hogu and Wangechi Mutu as well as notable AAC alumni Kreigh Collins, Edna Boies Hopkins, and Harry Shokler.

If your child is 8 years old, please consider if they would be more comfortable in the older class with 9-12-year-olds before registering, as exceptions are sometimes made for ages on the cusp of each class. Registrations outside of the age limits can be discussed by emailing engagement@artacademy.edu or by calling 513-562-8762.

Read our protocols here. By signing up for our programs, you and your minor student(s) are agreeing to abide by the rules and policies in the handbook.
