Texture + Pattern: Designing Textiles and Tactile Art

Textile art is versatile as it preserves history and culture, aids in daily life, provides comfort, and supports sustainability. Students will investigate the importance of touch as a human connector while learning how texture and pattern encourage curiosity. Students will practice techniques such as sewing, weaving, dyeing, embroidering, and heat manipulation! Students will craft their work after learning about artists around the world like Patricia Kelly and Do Ho Suh in addition to notable AAC alum Petah Coyne.

Please note that the Art Academy of Cincinnati is closed on Juneteenth (Thursday, 06/19). This is reflected in this week’s schedule and fees.

If your child is 8 years old, please consider if they would be more comfortable in the older class with 9-12-year-olds before registering, as exceptions are sometimes made for ages on the cusp of each class. Registrations outside of the age limits can be discussed by emailing engagement@artacademy.edu or by calling 513-562-8762.
