Description: Camp Happy Hearts offers a fun summer day camp experience appropriate for children with special needs, who have sufficient skills to engage appropriately with a group of children in activities consistent with program goals.Your child will make new friends and go to exciting places. Activities include swimming, arts and crafts, games, sports, field trips and much more!REGISTRATION INFORMATIONRegistration must be done via email. For registration packet visit https://www.alpharetta.ga.us/government/departments/recreation-parks/activities/summer-camps. Email completed Camp Happy Hearts packets to lpritchard@alpharetta.ga.us and participants will be registered as received. Incomplete packets will not be accepted. New campers are required to be interviewed; the program coordinator will contact you by phone for an interview.CAMP HOURSScheduled Activities 9:00 am - 4:00 pmPre-Camp 7:30 am - 9:00 amPost Camp 4:00 pm - 5:30 pmAGE REQUIREMENTSAge requirements have been established to safely facilitate age-appropriate activities. Campers will be placed into groups according to their age. Campers must be 6 years of age by the first day of the camp session.COMMUNICATIONOn-going communication between staff, parents and campers is critical to your child achieving a successful and fun experience at camp. If at any time you need to share information, concerns or compliments, we encourage you to speak with a staff member. To contact your child during camp hours, please call (678) 297-6100.LUNCHCampers are required to bring a lunch and beverage each day. Refrigeration and microwave facilities are not available to campers.SIGN IN/SIGN OUT PROCEDURESFor the safety of each child, all campers must be signed in and signed out each day. Campers may only be picked up and signed out by an authorized person (indicated at time of registration). Campers may not sign themselves in or out. Please be ready to show a photo I.D. to a staff member.DROP OFF TIMESCampers may begin arriving at 7:30am. All other campers can be signed in between 8:45am - 9:00am. Please have your child here on time, as activities will start promptly at 9:00am.CAMP ATTIRE & PERSONAL ITEMSAll campers should wear comfortable clothing each day. Campers should wear athletic shoes (no flip-flops). Campers are discouraged from bringing personal items such as electronics, jewelry or items of value. Campers are responsible for their personal possessions. The City of Alpharetta Recreation Parks & Cultural Services Department is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items brought to camp.COMMEMORATIVE T-SHIRTAll campers will receive one commemorative camp t-shirt for the summer (not required to be worn each day). Campers are required to wear the camp t-shirt when the camp goes on field trips.SUN PROTECTIONMany camp activities are outdoors, your child is at risk for sunburn. Campers should arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied, as well as with additional sunscreen. We recommend campers use sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30.MEDICATIONIf your child needs medicine while at camp, you will need to fill out an Authorization to Give Medication at Camp Form or an Over-the-Counter Medication Permission Form.ILLNESSESFor the protection of all campers and staff, any child believed to have an infectious illness should not attend camp. If a staff member becomes aware that child is sick, the parent or guardian will be called to pick up the child.
