Description

Join us in this unique and rare opportunity to learn from this master illustrator, C. F. Payne. This event will host a rotation of Artist’s Talk, Live Demonstration of the artist at work, and Participant workshop with tasks assigned by artist with artist coaching and feedback.


C. F. Payne, who is part of the From the Artist’s Studio: Mark Braught, Laura Freeman, and C.F. Payne, an illustrators exhibit, currently showing at the Alpharetta Arts Center, has been awarded the following: Gold and Silver Medals from the Society of Illustrators, the Hamilton King Award for Excellence in Illustration, National Cartoonist’s Society Illustration Award and Book Illustration Award, the 2017 Governor’s Award for Arts in Ohio, Communication Arts Award of Excellence and in 2018 was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.

Notes

Supplies:

Drawing paper, drawing boards, and pencils provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies if preferred. You are encouraged to experiment and create your own art using the technique Mr. Payne demonstrates. Participants may choose to bring personally owned technology devices, although demonstrations will be in tangible media. Wi-Fi access is available. Mr. Payne will also bring selected art supplies that can be used and participants are encouraged to use his materials following his demonstration. In the demonstration that will be done on Strathmore Sketchbook paper, Mr. Payne will be using acrylic paint, ultra-matte medium and colored pencils. Mr. Payne will be applying the acrylics using brushes and a brayer. He will be bringing brayers for students to use as well as the ultra-matte medium. Participants are encouraged to bring a 9” x 12” or 11” x 14” Strathmore Drawing Sketchbook, any acrylics and colored pencils.
