Description:
Designed for anyone seeking employment as a nurse aide in a hospital or nursing home, this course provides instruction in the classroom, lab, and nursing home. Students will complete a minimum of 80 hours in class and 40 hours in a clinical setting. After successfully completing this course, students are eligible to take the Virginia Board of Nursing examination for certification as a nurse aide. This course requires participation 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on at least six days in addition to the regular class hours. A TB test and a criminal background check will be done before attending clinical (fees included). This class requires students to be able to bend, pull, stoop, and walk without problems. Students may also have to handle bodily fluids and substances. Uniforms are required for this class (not included). Books and supplies are included. You may be accepted into the class before completion of your background check. If the completed inquiry establishes information that in the opinion of Chesterfield County Public Schools, the Virginia Board of Nursing or the clinical setting makes you unqualified to attend clinical instruction, you may be dismissed from class. After successfully completing this course, students qualify to take the certifying exam. Testing fee not included.
