Description: 

This class will teach basic carpentry, drywall, concrete, tile, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, beginning welding and blueprint reading. You will learn the basics of building trades skills including hand tool usage, project planning, material usage, installation techniques, industry safety and skills needed for a good understanding of each area of study. Students will gain hands-on experience with projects that will cover the areas of the building trades. The class will also cover blueprint reading as it pertains to the building industries, installations and learn skills to estimate the materials needed for projects. By the end of this course, students will be ready to take on projects of their own and have a clear understanding of the skills needed to start in the many fields of the construction industries. Hand tools, equipment and material to perform the class projects will be provided. Employment opportunities with Paragon Carpentry and the Richmond Omni Hotel are available after the completion of the course.
