Description: Course Instructor: Denise Smyth Learn the basics of the ancient art of Mosaics in this fun, hands-on and messy class. Wear old clothes - as you pick a design and make it come alive with glass and mosaic tile. At the same time make something useful and beautiful for your home or to give as a gift. This craft and the results are breath-taking no matter what the skill level. Come give it a try! A $5 grout fee is payable to your teacher on the first day of class. Look for pictures in magazines, coloring books or on the computer of a design you would like for inside your tray.You can obtain your tiles at northwoodglassart.com, they usually offer Jupiter High School students a discount. Materials List: Tile nippers-wheeled (Home Depot, Michaels); 3-5 pounds of mosaic tile in colors to suit your design www.mosaicmercantile.com; Ceramic tile adhesive (mastic) (Home Depot); Wooden tray about 9” x 13” (Michaels). You will be tiling the inside of the tray with your design; Old terry cloth, wash cloth, paper towels; something pointy to apply adhesive to tile (toothpicks).
