Description

Ages: 15 - Adult. Review the basics but quickly jump into new painting concepts introduced through abstraction, impressionism, and realism. This is a virtual class that includes a combination of Quick Tips and short “how to” painting videos and live Zoom sessions. This is a 7 week course, with 4 live, virtual classes from 6-8pm on Mondays 7/19, 8/2, 8/16, 8/30 which includes live demo and instruction, and you can paint along if you'd like. You use the off weeks to work on painting assignments and get feedback from your instructor on your work. Zoom sessions are recorded for review later or if you miss a class. Please see online and receipt note for suggested supply list. Prerequisite: Must have taken one acrylic painting class or comparable experience. Instructor: Mary Thiefels, educator with Rec & Ed for nearly 20 years and founder of TreeTown Murals. 7 weeks.

Please note, this is a virtual/online class that can be accessed from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. To fully participate, you will need access to the Internet during the class time, and a built in camera/microphone on your device or a webcam if you'd like to communicate directly with the instructor.

Supply List

  • Acrylic paints: warm & cool primary colors, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, primary red, alizarin crimson, medium cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, mars black, and big tube of white.
  • Bin or box for your supplies.
  • Medium size canvas(s) 12 x 16 or 16 x 20 are the average sizes we use.
  • Disposal pallet paper or FLAT plastic pallet.
  • Metal pallet knife for mixing paint.
  • Sketch pad of your choice.
  • Drawing pencil, and optional watercolor pencils
  • Brushes of various sizes.

NOTE: Due to the inconvenience of having to order supplies online you do not need to have all of these items for the first painting project, except for canvas, brushes, & paint.
